About The Vein Guide

The Vein Guide is an educational resource on vein health for patients in Singapore and Southeast Asia, built on current clinical guidelines.

Why we exist

Vein problems are very common, yet many people put up with aching, swollen legs for years — because they think nothing can be done, they’re worried treatment will be painful, or they can’t find clear, plain-language information.

The Vein Guide was created to change that. We explain vein conditions and treatments in plain language so you can understand what is happening in your legs, know when to get help, and walk into a consultation with the right questions.

Who we write for

Our readers are mostly patients and their families in Singapore and across Southeast Asia, including people in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines who are considering treatment in Singapore. Where it matters, we explain local details — referrals, MediSave, insurance and how care is organised here.

How our content is made

Articles are researched and written by our editorial team using current clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed research. Every article lists its sources and shows the date it was last updated. Read our full editorial policy.

Who runs The Vein Guide

The Vein Guide is published by a vascular surgeon practising in Singapore. Some articles include a link to the surgeon’s clinic website as one of several outside resources, next to government sites and international guidelines. We disclose this so you can weigh our links accordingly: a link to a clinic website is not a recommendation to choose that clinic over any other doctor.

A doctor may medically review some articles. Reviewed articles say so in their byline, naming the reviewer and the review date. Articles without that line have not been reviewed by a doctor and are written by our editorial team. This site does not take bookings, offer consultations or publish patient testimonials.

Articles link to outside resources, including government sites, international guidelines and, in some cases, Singapore medical clinics, where they help explain a topic or where to get care. We aim to explain all reasonable options, including not treating, and we do not describe any doctor or clinic as better than another.
